Regional Conference of Water and Education for Europe and The United States: Strategies of Impact in Water and Education (Delft - Holland, February 26-27, 2009)
The Regional Conference of Water and Education of the International Hydrological Programme (IHP) for Europe and The United States placed in the preparatory process for the World Conference of Education for the Sustainable Development (Bonn, Germany, March, 2009) and the World V Forum of the Water (Istanbul, Turkey, March, 2009). In this context, the Conference constituted one of the instances that were carried out worldwide (Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, Asia and Pacific Ocean, Arabic States) expecting to mobilize for the local actors and to act as catalyst for the generation of contributions that reflect specific characteristics of every region.
The Conference appeared as objective the study and strengthening of the educational initiatives for the managing responsible for the water. Also it emphasize in the importance of the different levels of education to achieve a responsible conscience in Europe and The United States.
The exhibitions centred on 5 principal subject matters that they presented in plenary meetings and then they were discussed in groups:
- Tertiary education and Scientists professional development of the Water, Engineers, Managers and decision-makers
- Education and Training of Technical personnel of the Water
- Water and Education in schools
- Community Education
- Education across the means The IHP-LAC was present in this activity in order to present the principal results obtained in the Conference of Water and Education in Latin America and the Caribbean (Asuncion, Paraguay, December, 2008).
