First Regional Consultation of GEF Project “Groundwater Governance: A Global Framework for Country Actions” (Montevideo, 18-20 April 2012)

The First Regional Consultation of the new project on Groundwater Governance: A Global Framework for Country Actions will involve the Latin America and Caribbean region and will be held in Montevideo from 18th to 20th April 2012. This project is the result of the fruitful cooperation among the UNESCO International Hydrological Programme (IHP), the Global Environment Facility (GEF), the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the International Association of Hydrogeologists (IAH) and the World Bank.
The overall project objective is to increase awareness on the paramount importance of a sound management of groundwater resources to prevent and reverse the global water crisis. (+info)
America´s Water Agenda presented at World Water Forum (Marseille, 2012)

Held every three years, the Sixth World Water Forum bring together heads of state and government, technical and ministerial representatives from different countries, companies and NGOs of various kinds on the development of solutions for water resources management focusing on thematics such as effective access to water and sanitation, transboundary cooperation and increasing involvement of local authorities.
